God is working overtime to help us experience our
spirituality. So there will be NO DOUBT we have a spirit in
us that will survive whatever is to come.
Not every “spirit” has our best interests at heart. But

Can you control your dreams? When I realize it’s a dream, I often have a large degree of control over it.
It can be kind of fun to make whatever I want to happen.

the first thing you have to do is realize you’re dreaming
from there you’re free to wander around the dreamscape
it’s possible to unlock your subconscious that way

This website claims to be able to let you do that. They call them “lucid dreams”. What are the spiritual implications of manipulating your dreams? Are lucid dreams science or just mumbojumbo?

I have lucid dreams regularly. It only ever happens on the last dream I have before waking. I am not fully aware that I am dreaming, yet I can control what happens and what I do. Once I take too much control or do something that reminds me that I’m dreaming, I instantly wake up.

Question by Jack: Isn’t Billy Joel’s “Only The Good Die Young” not only anti-Catholic but anti-Christian also?
I heard about the whole controversy about the “Only Good Die Young” song being anti-Catholic, but wouldn’t it also be anti-Christian with lyrics such as “I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints” and since most Christian denominations believe in no premartial sex?

By the way, was Billy Joel anti-Catholic or anti-Christian? I know he tried to “spin” it saying that it was NOT anti-catholic but rather pro-lust (according to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Only_the_good_die_young ),
but the lyrics seem too strong to not be anti-Catholic with an example I mentioned above.

Are there other Christians who still listen to other music of his? With songs like “Tell Her About It”, “Uptown Girl”, and “River of Dreams”? Or have other Christians just banned listening to him because of that song? I know it would too much to expect a musician to agree to a listener’s particular spiritual/religious views, but….being confrontational is a whole other thing…

I read the lyrics of “Lullaby (Goodnight My Angel)” and that really didn’t give an identication of his spiritual beliefs, it seemed spiritually neutral since Celtic Woman also covers this song.

By the way, I see no one was answering my last couple questions. Do any Christians still listen to his other songs? LIke “Tell Her About It”, “Uptown Girl” and “River of Dreams” Or have you NOT listened to him at all because of this?

Question by Fairelight Silverwings: Have you ever had “twilight” or “waking” dreams?
“Twilight Dreams” or “waking dreams” are those we have when half asleep, maybe while drifting into sleep our out of sleep. I think they are more likely to happen when we are in a strange place, or ill, VERY stressed, on medication, or waking after surgery.

These types of “dreams” have caused people throughout the years to think they had seen werewolves or other scary things like that. They seem VERY real.

I think these dreams often they represent our stress, insecurity in a strange place.. or issues we are already worried about. It’s as if the stress & fears we are already dealing with take on a “form.”

It COULD also represent the efforts of the evil one, the devil, to drown us in fear so we cannot approach life or God with confidence. He is not above trying to scare us to death. BUT, he has no true power over us… only what he can INFLUENCE us to feel. If we act on fears or make crazy choices based on his influence in our mind, that is now he works to drag us down. Even so… it is often when we are weakened due to illness, lack of sleep, or other extreme pressure that we might give in to those fears, no matter what their source… spiritual, emotional, or other.

The source of power over those fears is to pray & ask God for wisdom & protection. Avoid making hasty choices based fear.

Frequent visions like this can indicate undiagnosed illness, medication side effects OR a wake up call to for a family to deal with stress issues before they get out of control.

I have had, and know others who have had such episodes! Once, I saw the “wolf man” looming over my husband, about to choke him. At that very moment, my husband was pointing UP and crying out, so it seemed like he was seeing the “wolf man” also! Actually, he was having a totally different nightmare, about some machinery above his head about to fall. We were BOTH under extreme stress and BOTH taking a prescribed medication that had “hallucinations” listed as a side effect! A commonly prescribed medication! You can bet we asked our doctor about that soon afterward!

What experiences have you had along these lines? Have you noticed a pattern or common causes for such “visions”?

I think I had something similar to it. I did not know it was called twilight or waking dreams. I was told it was called night terrors because sometimes I will wake up half asleep like you said and think I have seen spiders crawling on the wall or snakes sometimes. At that time it was because of lack of sleep.
